Current Projects

Past Projects

  • GiantSteps – Seven League Boots for Music Creation and Performance
(EU FP7-ICT-2013-10, project no. 610591, 2013-2016) The GiantSteps project unites leading music research institutions, industrial R&D companies, and music practitioners, to combine techniques and technologies in new ways, including state-of-the-art interface design techniques with MIR methods new in the areas of real-time interaction and creativity.
  • sound/tracks
This art project aims at capturing the visual impressions of train journeys and translating them into a musical composition in real-time. The passing scenery is captured with a camera and translated into instantaneously played back piano music, adding a synaesthetic sound dimension to the visual experience and deepening the state of contemplation.
  • The nepTune Interface
Given a digital music collection, nepTune creates a virtual landscape which allows the user to freely navigate in this collection. This is accomplished by automatically extracting features from the audio signal and clustering the music pieces, generating a 3D island landscape in which the user can hear the closest sounds with respect to the current position. Additionally, knowledge extracted automatically from the Web is incorporated to enrich the landscape with semantic information.
