I am an associate professor at Vienna University of Technology and directing a research group on Image and Video Analysis & Synthesis. After obtaining the PhD degree (1997) from Graz University of Technology, Austria, I spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher with the Radar Interferometry Group at Stanford University. I joined TU Vienna in 2001 and built up our group's research focus on stereo analysis, image matting, and other video analysis techniques with an emphasis on 3D video/film applications.

Our group has set up and maintains a web-based evaluation system for image matting algorithms (www.alphamatting.com). Our recent stereo work has dealt with fast cost volume filtering and an evaluation of adaptive support weight techniques. To get an overview of our ongoing research activities, please take a look at our projects.
