Biography: Ralf Bierig is an Information Retrieval (IR) researcher with an focus on interactive and user-oriented applications and the ambition to enable repeatable and reproducible processes in IR and Interactive IR. He is currently employed as a post-doctoral researcher at the TU Wien in Austria where he also lectures in IR and Search Systems. He received his PhD from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, UK in the domain of Mobile and Context-Aware Content Personalisation, a thesis that was supported by the EU-IST AmbieSense Project. He received his BSc (Hons) from the University of Furtwangen in Computer Science in 2002.

Currently, he works on CHIST-ERA MUCKE, a project that focuses on the credibility of information and multimedia concept indexing. The project wants to create a framework for reliable concept recognition that will combine text and image information retrieval within a single framework using different flavors of content and user credibility in the process of search result re-ranking.
