UKRAINE: STUDENTS MAKE ANOTHER SHANTYTOWN TO DEMAND PRESIDENT STEP DOWN
KIEV, MARCH 5 (from RIA Novosti's Victor Demidenko) - Students of many colleges pitched another shantytown in the city on the public protest action, "Ukraine without Kuchma".
A first shantytown was ransacked by the police on a district court verdict last week. The new one will be guarded round-the-clock to prevent violence repeated.
The protesters do not announce for how long the action has been planned.
President Leonid Kuchma, Prosecutor-General Mikhail Potebenko and Interior Minister Yuri Kravchenko must resign, protest activists said, March 1. They accuse the three of involvement in the murder of muckraking journalist Georgi Gongadze.
