Short Description and Results

This collaboration started at the ISERN 2013 meeting. We developed a globally distributed family of surveys on Requirements Engineering (RE), called NaPiRE (Naming the Pain in Requirements Engineering). The idea of NaPiRE is to gather a knowledge basis on the status quo and practical problems in RE to lay the empirical foundation to steer RE research in a problem-driven manner.

Since then, the project has grown to an established ISERN project with many collaborators around the world. Currently the third survey trial is being conducted. Results of the first two trials, including a comprehensive analysis of the contemporary problems, have been published in several venues. In the ISERN 2017 meeting, the status of the third trial will be presented. Current research collaborations based on NaPiRE and future collaborations ideas will also be discussed.
