Short Description and Results

At the ISERN meeting in 2013, we conducted a thematic workshop to initiate a globally distributed family of surveys on requirements engineering, called NaPiRE (Naming the Pain in Requirements Engineering) hosted under the umbrella of ISERN. The idea of NaPiRE is to gather a knowledge basis on the status quo and practical problems in Requirements Engineering to lay the empirical foundation to steer Requirements Engineering research in a problem-driven manner.

At the workshop, we presented the design, the first results we could already obtain from Germany, and we openly discussed how to potentially proceed by forming a long-term research collaboration where different researchers conduct an independent replication in their respective (affiliation) country. This included the initial re-adjustment of the instrument for the first replication, team building for conducting the survey in different countries and the establishment of a process. In the meantime, we could form a team of 19 researchers and we are conducting the first replication in 13 countries.

Details about the project including all resulting publications can be taken from http://www.re-survey.org
