The working group Information and Software Engineering is part of the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems.
It covers the design and development of software and information systems in research and education.
The other groups cover E-Commerce, Business Informatics, and Interactive Media Systems.
Both theoretical and engineering-like approaches to problem solving are equally balanced in our research and educational work, leading to "real-world problem" solving.
CDL-FlexThe CDL-Flex research laboratory is working in the context of parallel engineering of industrial plants and has developed the Automation Service Bus® (ASB) concept. The ASB is aiming to integrate the "Engineering Polynesia" and "Engineering Babylon" of heterogeneous software tools and data models in engineering environments. This integration is based on improving the well-established enterprise service bus approach from business IT for the engineering context. |

Digital PreservationDigital Preservation the process of keeping electronic material accessible and usable for longer periods of time has turned into one of the most pressing challenges within the digital library community. Long-term archiving of digital material is a highly complex and diverse matter. One core area of activity is the development of Preservation Planning approaches for specifying and evaluating preservation plans according to the particular requirements of stakeholders. The approach builds on Utility Analysis and a thoroughly defined workflow for reaching informed and accountable decisions on which preservation solution to adopt. |
Research Studio SEMERGYThe overall goal of the SEMERGY project is the development of a web-based tool for easily calculating and improving the energy efficiency of new and existing buildings. Based on the building's current energy efficiency and the user's constraints/requirements (available financial resources, targeted energy efficiency level, sustainability of used building products) SEMERGY calculates concrete building- and refurbishment suggestions (on the product level) which meet the requirements of the user. Target groups of the SEMERGY system are private home owners, building planners, architects, and operators of large building groups. |
